The official e-learning 'Heartcode ACLS' course is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient. The overall goal of the course is to improve the quality of care provided to patients who suffer a cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergency. Students enhance their skills in the treatment of cardiac arrest and peri-arrest patients through active participation in a series of planned simulated cardiac and respiratory emergency scenarios, which are designed to reinforce the core concepts of emergency cardiovascular care. Students complete the online course, and attend the 1-day skills practice and assessment session.
Outcome: ACLS certification from the Irish Heart Foundation (IHF) and the American Heart Association (AHA).
